Now award-winning Harvard Business School professor Michael Wheeler provides a dynamic alternative to one-size-fits-all strategies that don't match real world realities.

Game theory means rigorous strategic thinking. It’s the art of anticipating your opponent’s next moves, knowing full well that your rival is trying to do the same thing to you. Though parts of game theory involve simple common sense, much is counterintuitive, and it can only be mastered by developing a new way of seeing the world. Using a diverse array of rich case studies - from pop culture, TV, movies, sports, politics, and history - the authors show how nearly every business and personal interaction has a game-theory component to it.

For years now, win-win has been the paradigm for business negotiation. But today, win-win is just the seductive mantra used by the toughest negotiators to get the other side to compromise unnecessarily, early, and often. Win-win negotiations play to your emotions and take advantage of your instinct and desire to make the deal. Start with No introduces a system of decision-based negotiation that teaches you how to understand and control these emotions.

Story
People starting out in business tend to seek step-by-step formulas or rules, but in reality there are no magic bullets. Rather, says veteran company-builder Norm Brodsky, there's a mentality that helps street- smart entrepreneurs solve problems and pursue opportunities as they arise. Brodsky shares his hard-earned wisdom every month in Inc. magazine, in the hugely popular "Street Smarts" column he cowrites with Bo Burlingham. Now they've adapted their best advice into a comprehensive guide for anyone running a small business.

Anthony Iannarino never set out to become a salesman. He fell into his profession by accident, and now has turned his focus to a question that's been debated for at least a century: Why are a small number of salespeople in any field hugely successful, while the rest are stuck with mediocre results at best? Since then, and for over 25 years, he has read hundreds of books, tested countless strategies, and interviewed dozens of the best salespeople to figure out what sets the extraordinary ones apart from the rest.

They do want them to have personal integrity and high self-esteem, and to grow up with love and peace in their hearts. Children raised the Wayne Dyer way feel useful and needed. They are inner- rather than outer-directed. They live a stress-free life naturally, without resorting to drugs.

Loaded with practical strategies, real scenarios
Mr. Shell has written a practical guide that I can actually use. He breaks things down and does not overwhelm the reader. He sets you up to understand what type of person you are, he gets you thinking about the other person in the negotiation. He reviews strategies. The summaries are a great touch. I felt as though by the end, I had someone really cheering me on and excited for me to succeed.

Great listen, very insightful
This felt like the next step up from an introduction to negotiation. There was lots of reference to the “how” to use the tools for various strategies, as well as the “why” of those strategies. I appreciated the inclusion of ethics, and self reflection the book asks of the reader. I loved that the book opened with a discussion on gender and cultural influences, but then was disappointed that it repeatedly used Donald Trump for several anecdotes. This made the content seem very dated, despite being a newer edition. The lack of cultural and gender variety in the anecdotes shared was disappointing. Despite this, still worth the purchase, and I enjoyed the book.
