Very supportive and informative book for people who feel unfocused and easily distracted in life

The cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach helped me look at my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in a whole new light! It also gives really good practical exercises to help with organization, focus, and utilizing my spontaneous side to have more fun with my family and friends! Biggest takeaway was to consider ‘my why’ for everything I do or want to feel. This has given my days a whole new meaning and focus.

Great for ADHD procrastination

I especially love what this book said about procrastination with ADHD. It's not like I want to procrastinate. I want to be productive and get things done. It just never seems to happen that way. I always start out with the best of intentions but....yeah. You get it. I like how this book didn't say "stop getting distracted" or "just finish what you started" like other people have said. This book actually gave helpful advice I can use.

My suspicions confirmed

I've been into CBT for a while and when I saw a book related to CBT, I thought I'd take a look because after being tested numerous times for dyslexia but always 'fooling' the test as my testers would put it, I thought ADHD could be a possibly, I certainly have aspects of that in my personality and my friends mention it quite often. Obviously this is not medical advice but a lot at the beginning of the book felt they could be talking about me. The main things I liked is this book understood the advantages of ADHD and realised that while I hate queues, unbelievably impatient and spend my money impulsively my creativity also stems from that. This book has help me accept it and better still has gave me strategies to turn my raw creativity into something like a finished product for once. The narrator was also very nice.

A Great Intro to CBT

Cognitive Behavior Therapy is incredibly beneficial not just for ADHD but for numerous other mental health conditions. Love that there is a self-assessment AND that it is highly recommended to seek professional guidance if you believe you do have ADHD. The author turns a topic some people may find scary into something to be proud of. She not only makes sure people have a true understanding of the condition but also shows them techniques on how to benefit from having it. It's an easy listen and the voice of the narrator doesn't make me want to stop listening. As someone who can be easily distracted and impulsive. I look forward to practicing the techniques I learned from this audiobook. Highly recommend.
