Just what I needed

This book focuses on communication, as the title states, and I really appreciated many of the examples. Not all of them were applicable to me, but I think that's normal, and I didn't feel like I was wasting my time listening to the bits that I couldn't use. Even if they don't apply to me, maybe I can recommend the book to someone that they will help. But for my purposes, this book was just perfect.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Taught me how to effectively communicate

After trying to listen to "Effective Communication Skills" by Dalton Kehoe, I was left wanting more. That particular audio book bored me with it's 24 lectures. I found it difficult to get through even half of the 11 hour audio book. If you want theory, get that book. Me, I wanted something that I could listen to and use the information rapidly in the real world! In other words, I wanted some practical advice.

Max J. Harrison's "Effective Communication" did just that! It gave me useful exercises that I was able to apply within minutes of listening to the short 3 hour audio! In fact, it helped me close a deal I was struggling with for days!

Listen to this audio book in the car on your way to your job or business, and, practice the exercises!

I highly recommend Max J. Harrison's "Effective Communication"!

Good resource to help with your communication

This audiobook is clear, concise, and to the point. For the past several months, I have been trying to learn to improve my communication skills. I learned a lot of practical techniques that you can apply to help with your communication skills. I have been listening to this book in the car during my long commutes to work.

Especially this audiobook caters to those who want to improve their communication in controversial topics such as politics and race, such as myself. Since a lot of resources that teach effective communication are more generalized, I am glad to have found this audiobook that caters to these more controversial and uncomfortable topics.

What I like the most about this book/audiobook is that there are a several example dialogues for certain situations. These example dialogues really help teach the material and techniques in the book. As a visual learner, I found those dialogues to be very helpful.

This book is a good starting place for anyone who wants to learn the bare essentials of becoming a better communicator. As this audiobook is just a source of information, you still need to take action to apply these pearls of wisdom into your daily communication habit.

Highly political

I couldn’t even get through it. This book is so political and clearly biased. Even if you agree politically, it’s so biased, the scenarios it sets up make everyone on the other side of the aisle sound like complete idiots with nothing valid to say. That’s not useful. I have no interest in extreme political views on either side. Learning to “win” an argument between two extremists on opposites sides gets us nowhere as a society. That is not effective communication. Effective communication involves listening and working to understand views unlike your own.
