About this listen

England is bleeding. And there isn't a thing I can do about it.

I am once again a prisoner to Wessex, captured by King Egbert because holding me hostage will bring them to him—my two Vikings who will risk heaven and earth to save me.

But I don't need saving. I am Princess Emeline, and I was taught by the best, and his name . . . Skarth the Godless. The man whom I love more than anything in this world.

But things begin to blur when Ulf the Bloody reminds me of the promise I made, and that promise is that I belong to him.

We must work together to overthrow King Egbert, but the war I fight within my heart is far more dangerous than anything I will ever face on the battlefield.

The choice is not simple because we all must make sacrifices. But I soon realize that all is not fair in love and war. Lives will be lost. Hearts will be broken. And come dawn, life as we know it will be changed forevermore.

Contains mature themes.

Quite a story

This is a story which takes place in the early days of what is now known as as the United Kingdom. It certainly was not United then. The land was populated by the Saxons who were Christian and eager to dominate all others. The kings were Christian and so held the power. They were greedy and power hungry and dominated by means of ruthless cruelty. Backstabbing was the thing of the day.

The Vikings arrive looking for lands to settle upon and a better life for their clans. And they have many gods. They are also a great warring tribe who also show no mercy when raiding villages and conquering lands.

Throughout the story, many alliances are made, battles won and lost, warriors change sides, family members betray their loved ones because of greed. Many people are killed in gruesome ways, enslaved and the women are abused in horrific ways. But the thread that weaves the story together and pushes the action forward is an abiding love between a Viking warrior and a Saxson princess who deeply loves two Viking men.
