About this listen
Few books on the craft today offer logistical assistance on the operational lodge or its active officers. It’s Business Time aims to offer a fresh look at the best practices that the world of business has spawned over the last hundred years and to take these market-disrupting techniques and adapt them for use at the Lodge level.
Just because Freemasonry isn't inherently a business doesn’t mean the organization can’t benefit from industry-proven best organizational practices. It's Business Time lays out these modern concepts and their relevance to Freemasonry in an easy-to-understand guide. The work explores and adapts each concept for use across the organization, regardless of leadership level. If utilized appropriately, these concepts can be a powerful force multiplier in enabling Lodges to succeed in the modern era.
"As someone with an MBA, I have long studied some of the best business practices and how to use these in organizations that I have been associated with. Brothers Johnson and Ruark have assembled some of the most innovative approaches used by successful companies and have illustrated how to adopt these for use in Freemasonry. This book is not about making Freemasonry a business, but rather applying these principals in building a successful lodge. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for new and innovative ideas." (Gregory J. Knott, PM, St. Joseph Lodge No. 970 (IL) Senior Contributor - Midnight Freemasons)

People don't buy from people they like. No! Your buyer doesn't care about you or your product or service. It's not your job to overcome objections, it's your buyer's. Closing isn't a skill of good salespeople; it's the skill of weak salespeople. Price isn't the main reason salespeople lose the sale. Gap Selling shreds traditional and closely held sales beliefs that have been hurting salespeople for decades. For years, salespeople have embraced a myriad of sales tactics and belief systems that have unknowingly created many of the issues they have been trying to avoid.

Story
"Years ago, I wrote about a retail store in the Palo Alto environs—a good one, which had a box of two-cent candies at the checkout. I subsequently remember that 'little' parting gesture of the two-cent candy as a symbol of all that is Excellent at that store. Dozens of people who have attended seminars of mine have come up to remind me, sometimes 15 or 20 years later, of “the two-cent candy story,” and to tell me how it had a sizable impact on how they did business."

Story
Questioning thousands of parents and educators, Dr. Wayne Dyer learned firsthand what people really want for their children. They don't particularly want their kids to go to fancy schools, acquire riches, or live "the good life". They do want them to have personal integrity and high self-esteem, and to grow up with love and peace in their hearts. Children raised the Wayne Dyer way feel useful and needed. They are inner- rather than outer-directed. They live a stress-free life naturally, without resorting to drugs.

Excellent Resource for Freemason's
As someone with an MBA, I have long studied some of the best business practices and how to use these in organizations that I have been associated with. Brothers Johnson and Ruark have assembled some of the most innovative approaches used by successful companies and have illustrated how to adopt these for use in Freemasonry. This book is not about making Freemasonry a business, but rather applying these principals in building a successful lodge. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for new and innovative ideas."

Great ideas for a great start!
I was really looking forward to this! The performance was solid and upbeat. I wished it would've expanded more deeply into the practical applications of each methodology touched on. An introduction and brief 10k ft. view of each left me with a vague over view that felt more like a round table discussion than a detailed break down of a workable practice. Over all, I enjoyed the book & would recommend to those interested in the subject matter.

Horrible Audio Book!!!
The book's advice was useless. Half of the book discussed business and specifically manufacturing principles in general that have been in practice for decades already...nothing new and nothing in detail. The other half discussed how your attitude and response to others in your organization will help the group succeed. Yes, attitude is important, but is also common sense and nothing revolutionary from the corporate world that will propel my organization forward. A generally good attitude helps in all situations in life and is something members of my organization already possess. Absolutely nothing learned from this book. Your best course of action is to avoid purchasing this book.
