Publisher's summary

Many of my listeners seek to continue learning about the narcissist and the tools that he uses in order to maintain his toxic relationships with those around him. We are baffled by his triangulation, lying, cheating, manipulation, and the trauma bond he uses to keep his followers around. He elicits negative and abusive behavior, and he seemingly gets away with it.

What we haven't discussed in a lot of depth is the theory of cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance is the reason many of those who worked with Hitler did not question the evil things they were doing when they helped kill other human beings. It is the reason that friends, partners, and family members continue to support and follow narcissists, despite their ill feelings to the contrary.

We think adults should know the difference between right and wrong. We think everyone who is being hurt or manipulated would stand up for themselves and choose to walk away if they were put in a situation that was harmful to them. We wonder why groups of people are prone to infanticide and genocide, hardly putting up any fight as they are led to their deaths. We would all like to think that we would be the ones to speak out and to fight for our right to live. But would we?

This audiobook will seek to define cognitive dissonance as it relates to narcissists, toxic people, psychopaths, and other mentally ill or personality-disordered individuals. It will also define the cognitive dissonance that causes victims to stay with their narcissistic spouse or partner. The purpose of toxic and narcissistic people is seemingly to harm and take advantage of others. We look at them as being the "evil" side of humanity, but we often don't realize why they chose the "dark" side. This audiobook will shed light on the underlying reasons for this choice. It explains the underlying psyche and mind theories as they relate to how a narcissist is created.

Clear, concise, and understandable

Where does Narcissist and the Cognitive Dissonance Theory: The Web of Eternal Entanglement rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audiobook was quick and to the point. I needed this information, and it was put in clear terms that I could understand and I didn't have to sit for hours for the author to get to the point. This book is valuable because we need to be aware of these personality disorders and theories in order to navigate through society and working with certain people. I needed to hear this information for both my career and personal life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Narcissist and the Cognitive Dissonance Theory: The Web of Eternal Entanglement?

Realizing my previous relationships were with narcissists because it explained from both points of view what would happen if you were in a relationship with a narcissist and why they are the way they are.

What about Ron Welch’s performance did you like?

He was clear and used examples.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

The cognitive dissonance theory in comparison to the Nazis that followed Hitler.

Any additional comments?

Great book and great information!

I though there would be more

There seems to be a disconnect between the money that is spent and the knowledge taken away from the lecture. Do I feel knowledgeable? Maybe let me think about what just happened. When graduation comes about they will bestow upon my tired old bones a Masters of Counseling. Then my short career will entail pulling narcissist (very evil people) apart from their partners before one of them kills the other . You see, my self efficacy is very high it must be there. The attitude and the altitude of that attitude must be inspirational. I am so happy that some day there is going to be a PhD, behind my name.
With all good intention;

Wolfgang M. Schwartzenweintraub

Not worth the price

If I could give no stars I would. I expected it to have more substantial information, everything in this is what I could get from doing a google search, except with Google I would get more meat and potatoes on this rather than just vegetables like this book. Not worth the purchase, don’t waste your money on this book.
