Publisher's summary

If you are looking for a book to help you gain strategies on how to prepare for failure and how to push through challenging times, then this is the book for you!

Pushing Past Failure to Build a Better You is basically a step-by-step guide to help you navigate through becoming resilient to failure and not be afraid to try new things in order to achieve your full potential. This book is full of strategies that will help you through difficult times and propel you forward after failure.

  • Allowing time to process your feelings
  • Networking/asking for help
  • Practicing healthy habits
  • Taking uncomfortable action
  • Being more open-minded/changing your mindset
  • Maintaining consistency and tenacity

The main reason why I felt compelled to write a book on this topic is that I truly believe that if you fail early and often in your life, you can make yourself stronger and therefore find more success when presented with future endeavors that may be challenging to you. There is a proverb in the Bible that states:

“Point your kids in the right direction--when they are old, they will not be lost.” (Proverb 22:6)

I feel it is so important to educate the younger generation on how to use challenges as stepping-stones. These young individuals need to understand failure is part of the learning process, not the end of it. They need to learn how to become friends with failure at a young age and not be afraid of it. If children are put in environments where they can experiment and be allowed to fail to learn a lesson, then they will be prepared for transformative success in college and beyond.

Praising yourself is okay

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. This book goes through examples and real-life scenarios of not so great, rough situations and how to overcome it, emotionally and mentally. I appreciate how the examples can be applied to both family life and work life. It's okay to accept yourself and not to be too hard on oneself. This is a great book to listen to, esp if you're driving to work to pump yourself up before a big meeting/presentation or interview! Good book.

Thought provoking and helpful

Overall this was a wonderful listening experience with good examples for me to think about and apply whether working or in my general life. I believe this will truly help young adults my daughter age (20) who are struggling with anxiety push behold their own mental hold. Me too! Quite remarkable how the author did a thorough job of including everything I can think of that blocks me personally from success. I think this book is definitely worth it!

Excellent Resource for Dealing with Life’s Challenges

Ms. Kerr has written a book that will be valued by a variety of people. The first part of the book describes why developing resiliency is a valuable life skill and then explains how parents impact a child’s ability to acquire this skill. She transitions to what this looks like for adults and references a wealth of sources to address all aspects of resiliency. (Even young adults would benefit from reading her book and following her recommendations.) Ms. Kerr shows, through ample examples, how resiliency is the solution to help us rise above life’s challenges, both big and small. She references a wealth of resources across multiple disciplines, which makes this a book to revisit for a variety of situations/solutions. This book is an excellent resource for educators, parents, anyone working with individuals/groups facing challenges, anyone currently struggling with a set back, or anyone interested in self-improvement.

Inspirational!

We are all afraid of failure at one point or another in our lives, but Kerr has offered us another way to look at it - failure helps us learn and move in the direction of our goals. There is no need to be afraid and not act because of the possibility of failure, it can actually be positive and motivational. If you feel stuck or need a little guidance, I would highly recommend this book to boost your confidence and get the motivation you need to push through. Learn how to become a stronger, more successful person by overcoming your fear of failure and use each one as a learning experience and get a push in the right direction; Kerr has offered steps and strategies to be able to do both.

Failure is an integral part of success

I know so many people who never do what their heart desires because they are so afraid to fail, That failure is an integral ingredient on the path to success is known to every high achiever, but it is so challenging to get that message across to those who doubt. This book offers that perspective and as such is a hugely useful addition to my success library. All I do now is point people to this book when they need to hear that message!

You Can Do It!

One of the most interesting things about this self help guide is that the book represents the author doing exactly that - helping herself and achieving a dream.
In this book Joni Kerr synthesises ideas that you maybe familiar with and connects those ideas to research.
Ms Kerr outlines a pathway that you can take to succeed but more importantly acknowledges the failures that block many from succeeding and shows the reader how to overcome these failures.
This book is for people who want to move past the things that limit them to achieve a more fulfilling life.
So what are you waiting for? Read it and succeed.
