About this listen

The portal to the Night Lands is closed, and vampires are barred from Earth, but at a high cost. Not only does Callum have to deal with the fallout of the vampire race’s final spasms, but the political consequences of demonstrating his ability and willingness to attack portal worlds directly. The forces that were moving to control a weakened GAR have come out into the open, and Callum has to deal with stakes much higher than his personal freedom.

It's time to join with his allies and move to open conflict. Even the secret of supernatural presence on Earth is at play, and the Archmage’s Council and the Seven Lesser Courts threaten the very concept of human sovereignty. Everything comes down to removing the would-be tyrants, and so preserving the Earth as it should be.

Seems like an ending but great all the same.

If this really was the last book as I suspect then thank you to the author and narrator it’s been a fantastic ride. Can’t wait for his other series to finish up on audiobook.

Good conclusion to series

Book wraps up the series well. If you liked the earlier books you will like this one.

Good Series

This seems to be the finale or at least this major arc of the story. Excellent urban fantasy series with a solid conclusion. I like the authors other series Blue Core as well. Will definitely be picking up future books or series.

Hope its not the end

As always, well done. The ending concerns me. It sounds final. Don't want that.

A good conclusion to a series that will be missed.

While there were some things that weren’t addressed, most things were wrapped up by the end of this book. There is some small space left for another story arc, or perhaps a spin-off series in the same universe.

The only thing I was a little upset about is that we never learn who Callum’s father was or why he has the abnormalities that he does.

New favorite ending

Loved the series and am super happy with how the author ended the series. I saw that they might be more chapters on Royal road so maybe it isn’t the end or maybe a side series, either way I am very happy.

A decent, but incomplete ending.

This was a good series and I certainly don't feel like I wasted any time or money on it, however it is far from perfect. It is VERY political, and by political I DON'T mean what you think. I mean that often this series reads more like an overworked ambassadors meeting notes than an adventure story with magic and dragons. Especially this last book. I think there was at least four separate "summits" with leaders of factions, worlds, countries, and more in this book alone. It's not a bad thing, but sometimes it does feel like sitting through a meeting you don't really want to be in.
Also the author still seems to be confused about a few things, 1: what is an archmage, 2: what is Callum Wells. In previous books we saw a mage enter secluded training to BECOME an archmage, signifying that it was a distinct and different realm of power, where as in this book it seems to be more of a title that can be bestowed upon someone who accumulates enough political power.
Second, what is Callum Wells? Is he strong pretending to be weak? Is he weak pretending to be strong? Everyone talks about him like he's an untouchable God. He is the single force giving legitimacy to the entire American Alliance. But then he is constantly complaining about how weak and useless he is. He keeps saying that in a fight against archmages he would be useless or defenseless. Yet in previous books he has ran circles around multiple archmages in open combat (when rescuing his future wife). He doesn't seem to try to get stronger either. He always complains about how weak he is, yet he has never once asked Archmage Wizzy, the ONLY other internal Vis mage for instruction? We have seen that mages can somehow train in seclusion, no fighting required, to reach archmage, yet despite that, and despite the multiple multi-year timeskips, Wells has never once even attempted that kind of training. He is allied with multiple archmages, mages, shifters, and fae, yet he never asks them for any pointers on how to grow his power. Anyways, despite that, it was a decent enough story. I just wish we got a few more answers to some of these things before the end.

Apologies Mr.Frazier, it turns out I'm the retard here. I had my speed turned down and didn't realize. So...sorry.

Fun end to the series.

Good narration, though the narrator needs to work on his female voices. Solid end to the series with room for a later spinoff.
