Publisher's summary

It was all going so well for Nick Angriff and the 7th Cavalry...until it wasn’t.

When Angriff awakened in a world where America no longer existed, he vowed to resurrect his beloved country. Put in command of Operation Overtime and all US forces in the post-American world, he assumed everyone under his command wanted the same thing.

But he was wrong. And now, the forces arrayed against him have the power to crush freedom, once and for all.

With all of the twists, turns, deceptions, and action you’ve come to expect from a series that one reviewer called “the best I've ever read”, Standing Before Hell’s Gate begins the Showdown Trilogy, where Nick confronts his enemies in a final fight for control of Operation Overtime, while the rebirth of the American Republic hangs in the balance.

WOW!

Loved it.
Can we have the story about the Collapse? What happened to the rest of the world? Is it all gone?

Get Ready for Fun

Great story about the end of the US and the fight of a military unit frozen and thawed out to remake the US.

A political break from our sponsors!

What I thought was the final volume, is not. In a glimpse of the future, this volume is referenced as the beginning of the “Showdown Trilogy”. This implies there are two more books to come. While this volume is just as interesting as the prior ones, this story focuses more on the original intentions of the two bases “Operation Overtime” and “Operation Comeback”, it’s visionary General Steeples, and the power struggle between General Steeples and General Angriff. This part of the tale may not be as exciting as the prior battles between The Last Brigade, the Chinese, the GR, and the Islamic cult but it does provide the missing background on General Steeples and what his role in the tale is and/or what it was to be. It also lays the groundwork for the newly introduced Showdown Trilogy. It’s still a great story when taken all together. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Confusing and Boring no life

The book says book one and at the end the narrator said book one and it should have been four due to this I had to pull up the sight and see if I was wrong it shows the next book is number five.
Yes it was good but it was very dry the story was flat and the characters were flat also. Most if the time I wondered if another person wrote this and said he was William Alan Web. Book one to three kept you on the edge of your seat this book put you in the bed wanting to take a nap.
I hope the next book five will get back to the way the story was told in the first three books exciting, rough and tough and let do it attitude book four was a total failure BIG TIME!!!!!

Hard to finish

it took me while to finish this book. The book was overall frustrating. The first 3 books were fun and exciting. This book was the complete opposite. I can only hope that this book is setting up for a better 5th book. Attacks from traitors on the inside is getting old real fast.
