Fantastic Book and Learned A Lot!
The audiobook "The Beginner's Guide to Stoicism: Embrace Ancient Wisdom to Overcome Modern Stress and Anxiety" was surprising! I did not really know what to expect, and had heard good things. I was right, and am very happy I gave it a listen.
I suffer from anxiety and the challenges of the world around us. The book does a really nice job at providing us with teachings and stories to help us be more calm from ancient traditions.
I love the history lesson in this book, and how it relates to how to deal with today's society.
We can all gain more from life when we become resilient and peaceful.
The narrator is great, and easy to listen to. I do recommend this book!

West Meets East
It is so common to hear about mindfulness and meditation these days. I always assumed that these ways of being and thinking originated in Eastern cultures. How refreshing to learn that the West also has a deep tradition of thoughtfulness and conscious living. This Guide to Stoicism beautifully describes how ancient thought-keepers lived mindfully and how we can, too. Thank you for this enlightening text. Excellent Introduction
Really glad I was given this to try. I'd heard of Stoicism before but I'd never given it the time of day. Well, now I see what I've been missing out on. Overcoming anxiety
I have struggled for so long with anxiety, overthinking, and reactiveness. I would see certain people maintain calm during emotional and highly charged situations and found myself jealous of how they managed it! I wanted that. Not just for me, but for those around me effected by my reactiveness and negative energy. This book has helped me so much. The strategies are effective and the insights priceless! I have already seen a difference in my temperment and mental state by simply thinking through what can and cannot be controlled, and taking time in the moments between a stimulus and my response to make a conscious choice to remain calm and slow down. Little things go a long way.
