Great book. Much better than the second one

The author fixed a lot of the problems I thought existed in the second book. I thought it was done well, As a verifiable chess nerd I will say I find it very difficult to believe that anyone who plays chess even extensively knows descriptive notation. Especially someone so young. They would never have been taught it seeing as it would mess kids up far more than it is useful. Algebraic notation has been the standard for over 40 years, and the same puzzle could have just as easily been done using D4, D5, C4.
I understand that most people couldn't set up a chess board (much less annotate moves) I just think Algebraic makes more sense, nobody knows there's a Queens side and a King side so Queens Bishop has no meaning, and more people could solve the puzzle.
At the same time I appreciate you bringing up Descriptive notation as I believe it's a cool part of chess history, and I'm sorry for the rant.

Well Played!

Well written with lots of fun Twista even if the last 6 chapters were fairly predictable. After all, nobody should want a hero to fail at the end of a 3 book story arc! So prepare to be very satisfied.

I HAVE READ THIS SERIES 12 TIMES IN A ROW🤩🤩🤩

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS!!! It is such a good book I have read it over and over again. I saw that some people are saying that the accents don’t sound but I could disagree. They say they are from Texas and they don’t sound like that but A they probably do and don’t realize it B the Hawthorns are most likely in a different area so they speak different Texas is huge everyone sounds different and C it’s a audio book it’s acting if you have ever taken a drama class🎭 or watched tv 📺 you know that everything is over exaggerated. Sorry I’m ranting I’m writing this late at night. If parents are looking for a book for their kids I wouldn’t suggest for kids under 13 that haven’t had the talk. This does have many cuss words so not meant for children 🛑. This is a great book that isn’t meant for one sex or the other it’s very gender neutral. This book had me up all night trying to solve puzzles that they had to solve 😂

Another success

I’m sad this is over and I want more. I love how honest and smart Avery is and appreciated so much of her perspective throughout the book, and how unapologetic she is about her feelings.

What am I gonna do know?!

Since I don't want to spoil anything, I'll try not to go into specific details so everyone can enjoy and experience the book for themselves.

I was really looking forward to the last book in this trilogy so much.

The Final Gambit is as epic as the first two books. It's binge-worthy, and I had a hard time putting it down when I had to do other things🙈. I really tried to read it slowly and savour every page at first (knowing there won't be another sequel), but who was I kidding?! With this kind of story, it's simply not possible to read slowly.🤷‍♀️I love listening to audiobooks while reading the books. It adds so much to the experience and if I cant read I can still listen.

The puzzles, riddles, and mysteries kept coming, and while I tried to solve the riddles with Avery and the Hawthorne brothers, I also couldn't wait to turn to another page to see what would happen next.

Not all of us can be as extraordinary as them. So why try when they solve it for me, right? The story builds on what we learned from the previous books and expands on that. You get sucked into the story, and the reality around you just ceases to exist. You need to know what comes next, and since the chapters are short, the usual "one more chapter" keeps coming every other minute.😅

We get to know some new characters, uncover layer after layer of the Hawthorne secrets, and get plenty of time with the brothers (yes, they wormed their way into my heart even more than before, and I love them all. Who wouldn't, right? But my all-time favourite Hawthorne will always be Grayson😍)! And Avery is the queen!

The finale was grand! And we came a full circle. The development of the characters and the story as a whole (from The Inheritance Game to The Final Gambit) is sooo good!❤️‍🔥

The interactions between the main characters (and some side characters), and their life together since Avery came to the House shaped them into who they were meant to be, changed them, healed them, and showed them the right path. I think it's perfect. Everything got explained, and we got a very satisfying end.

The only minus is there is no other sequel. What am I gonna do?!😭
