Publisher's summary

“I devoured this book in one day, and I guarantee you will too.”—Julie Clark, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Flight and The Lies I Tell

“An expertly woven story of love, revenge, and murder. In a world where so many books feel so similarthis was a refreshingly unique read and an addictive blend of love and mystery that I couldn’t put down. This is storytelling at its finest and I can’t recommend this book enough.”—AR Torre, New York Times bestselling author of Every Last Secret

Bestselling romance author Sarina Bowen’s debut thriller, about one woman’s search for the truth after receiving a text from her deceased ex.

She thought it was love. Then he vanished.

On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died.

Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to.

Nobody shows. But the text upends everything she thought she knew about the day he left her. The more questions she asks, the more sinister the answers get. Only two things are clear: everything she was told five years ago is wrong, and someone is still lying to her.

The truth has to be out there somewhere. To safeguard herself—and her son—she’ll have to find it before it finds her. And with it, the answer to what became of Drew.

For fans of Laura Dave and Julie Clark, but with a heart-stopping romance that only Sarina Bowen can execute, The Five Year Lie is a spine-tingling thriller that will have you guessing until the very end.

Good story!

I just liked it all! Character building was so believable. I can believe perhaps the author is either a mother herself or close to someone who is. The little boy in this book was so adorable and wise as children sometimes are… I was hoping for a good ending but you’ll have to hear it yourself…!

First five star all year!!

This was an amazing story! I loved all of the characters and there were no gaps in time that were not explained. It was exciting and I could not stop listening. I finished this one in less than two days. To top it off I was very satisfied with the ending. It did keep me guessing for a very long time and that’s a plus. Best book of the year for me!!!

Couldn’t stop listening!

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but I’m so glad I took a chance on it. Couldn’t help but finish it all in one day. Story was engaging and kept me invested throughout. Narrators were great but I’m a sucker for anything Jason Clarke reads aloud.

Big thumbs up

Not your typical Sarina Bowen.
Story drew me in from the beginning, I couldn’t stop listening. Full of twists, turns, intrigue, suspense and the hopeful happy ever after.
Highly recommend.

Entertaining

Great plot-keeps you guessing and the storyline moves well throughout the book. The ending was a bit meh, but overall a great read.
Kathleen Early is by far one of the best voice readers-I always pick novels she reads.

Very good story

I really enjoyed this book it brought up a serious subject that makes you think about all the camera surveillance our government has at their disposal. Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Worth 5 Stars!

At times the story seems a little complicated but is not. There are a lot of twists and turns that keep you going constantly! I was never sure where this story would end up and was constantly entertained. Even with all the various players, the multiple narrators were great. When they were hungry, so was I. Excellent book!!
