Critic reviews

"Bodett's short stories are perfect for the audio format, and his matching, low-key, folksy style is equally addictive." ( AudioFile)

Happy surprise

I listened to this book as an audiobook. I had no previous experience with this book or the author. The stories and the characters grew on me. It felt like I was unwrapping a special present while each vignette unfolded. I was very sad to say good-bye to these characters when the book was over and I plan to seek out more works by Tom Bodett.

Classic Americana

Just about every review of Tom Bodett's extraordinarily successful Motel 6 commercials remarks on him empathy. That genuine caring for the regular folks at The End o f the Road is apparent and infectious. These are honest and heart warming stories that deserve more attention. Tom Bodett is a creative talent. A fact belied by his success flogging motel rooms. We have thoroughly enjoyed these stories and hope you will too.

Folksy, Family-Friendly Humor

Where does The Last Decent Parking Place in North America rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks among the books I'd play on a car-ride with family. Humor fits well with all ages, kids to grandparents.

What other book might you compare The Last Decent Parking Place in North America to and why?

Any of the Prairie Home Companion books.

Have you listened to any of Tom Bodett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The author is a good narrator for his stories. He brings his characters to life with honesty and passion. A young adult novel was made from one of the short stories: Norman Tuttle on the Last Frontier. The author did a great job narrating that book, as well.

Cute, short, nice stories

A fantastic listen for a family car trip. Fun and wholesome entertainment, spoken by a true master storyteller.

I listened to these as a kid, and again as an adult. I enjoyed them both times.
