A chilling revelation about a forgotten Earth threatens the entire galaxy....

Held captive by Dark Horse Company, Captain Axel Finn is faced with a mission to humanity’s ancestral home after all contact with the planet is lost. Learning his mother might be hiding there, Axel agrees to help his adversaries, and deploy on Vengeance, the last Steward ship. But his decision might lead to his downfall if the Wrath have already arrived on Earth.

On the treacherous Wooly planet of Dari, bounty hunter Rangnar Soki becomes the prey, finding himself the target in a deadly game of survival. His path to rejoin Axel’s crew hinges on passing a test of Dari’s most revered guardian. Meanwhile, the surviving crew of the Trash Squid faces their own struggles to repair their damaged ship and leave Dari to find Captain Finn.

At the Citadel, Sergeant Jax Brito returns from her harrowing mission on Corinnia after drilling into a construct brimming with alien embryos. This grim discovery sends shockwaves through the CANDF ranks, and reality dawns on them all: The countdown to the Wrath invasion was wrong; it has already started, and no part of the galaxy is safe.

I love the story and it is unique and not just a cookie cutter plot. Can’t wait to see where the plot goes. Presentation I done well which for me is the most important part.

So good I never want it to end...

This series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith needs to go on forever. The characters are amazing and the story never loses its edge being that his other series Hell Divers is ending soon I wish that Galaxy in Flames could just go on forever and not end with Book three. We need more Galaxy in Flames please keep it going NSS..

Excellent

Loved the growing story. Excited about the next book. Find the baby talk a little jarring alongside the gore.

Great Series

Please note: I have read the book and have listened to the Audible versions

What can I say that I haven't said before? Nicholas Sansbury Smith is a gifted writer. I love books that surprised me and make me go “WHAT?!”. Galaxy in Flames-The Last Ship is another great read. The series is written from 3 points of view. It takes a special talent to have the narratives flow together. The transition from character to character is seamless and you become in-grossed in the storyline as you go.

I highly suggest listening to the Audible version of Galaxy in Flames series. You hear things that you did not notice when you read the book. Mark Boyett and Kristen Hvam bring all the characters to life.

If you like this series, try other works from Nick. Hell Divers will always be my favorite but I also enjoyed everything he has written. He still surprises me with what happens is his series. That’s saying a lot since I am a avid reader.

New MilSF with a host of action and heroes

Nicholas Sansbury Smith’s newest Sci-fi hooks with Axel and a host of other vibrant characters taking on a grave threat to Humanity’s survival. Set in our universe far enough in the future that transhumanism has created beings like Uga, a lovable koala mechanic, as well as threats like the Wrath, a creature I’ll let Nick describe, but whom nearly destroyed humanity long ago.
Our heroes start with Axel, a captain of a space crew out to do good while hiding his secret power - which by book two is only gaining steam.
Nick has surprised me with the direction, which has been a delight because who wants to know where the story will go? Chapter after chapter started this one off like gangbusters with reveals and heavy hitting consequences.
The ending is just right for a book two, delivering an emotional impact to the action packed climax while also gaining momentum to see the grand finale.
Our audio crew nailed it once again! The dual narration from Mark Boyett and Khristine Hvam feels just right, not only with our female pov and how much I love her part of the story, but also how well both narrators execute. This series has Nick’s sharp wit, forming scenes with deep worldbuilding fashioned into life and characters we feel bleed across the cavalcade of sacrifices they must make. Our narrators’ tone, personality and energy have been a joy to experience. RC Bray is a gift to mankind, but I’m glad he didn’t do this series because Mark and Khristine fit so naturally, it’s a winner in the end.
I’d start Book 3 right now if I had it. Outstanding new series!
