Loved this book

I legit loved this audiobook. I think as more people become savvy to concepts like emotional intelligence, books like these will be devoured. The definitions are clear, but detailed enough to ensure you adequately understand them. The author uses examples to illustrate the concepts in a practical way, which helps to solidify the concepts. The notion of EI is not just about romantic relationships; quite frankly, I've found it to be most helpful in work environments. I appreciated that this book addressed that setting. Everyone will walk away having learned something from this book.

Forget high IQ, we need high ET!

Emotional intelligence is something the world needs, and not just the act of recognizing your emotions, but also the act of mindful presence (where the E.Tolle fans at?), because these two practices used in tandem can make for a pretty awesome person–someone who can not only stay attentive and present through the waves of life, but can also recognize where they have beEn emotionally triggered and can take appropriate actions to fix these things within their psyche. The result is someone who begins to develop a level of emotional maturity that will have others looking at them wondering why they are so mature, calm, cool, collected, and others will likely look up to them and want to be like them. Because let’s face it, the world is PACKED with emotionally immature people, usually laced with a little narcissism, and some abandonment issues thrown in. Not to judge, but this formula makes for a pretty dysfunctional world. Which is why I think it’s fantastic that Lauren J. Abraham has provided the layperson with a comprehensive grimoire of just about everything any budding emotionally mature and intelligent person could want to have access to. I loved the micro habit approach to this title because taking on too much at once can be detrimental, and this lays out the foundations to making small changes here and there to really clean up the detrimental parts of one’s mindset, actions, and behaviors, to become a more stable and steady person overall.
