Publisher's summary

Tom Moore is the greatest NFL assistant coach of all-time, though he humbly cites the talent and hard work of his players as the keys to his success. In The Players' Coach, the oldest active NFL coach chronicles the most exceptional players-first career in the history of professional football, talks football with his elite proteges and his underdog mentorees alike, and lays out the principles that helped him define the modern gridiron.

In an era of "systems" and "analytics," Moore maintains a refreshing focus on the "Jimmys and Joes"-constantly refining and augmenting players' individual talents and ability to read defenses, and building play-calling around the unique skills of his players. This book digs deep into Moore's one-on-one sessions with all-time NFL greats, untested rookies, and grizzled veterans seeking football knowledge and play-making prowess.

With Moore's coaching tips, leadership philosophy, and life lessons woven throughout,

The Players' Coach is a player-development masterclass. It is also an inspirational life story, from humble beginnings to becoming the quarterback for the University of Iowa, a college coaching career, and then to assistant-coach and offensive-coordinator roles in six different decades. This book is destined to be a football classic, a coaching Bible, and a must-listen on leadership.

We need "Moore" books and collections like this

This is a great book that shows how great leaders are great people that do not always have to be the BOSS. They know their role, do their job the BEST and make the players & Head Coach much better because of that coach being there. We need "Moore" books like this reminding this generation of players and coaches how loyalty, hard work when no one is around, humility, self discipline and the desire to make the ones around you better over your desire of self gratification. Coach Moore wanted everyone he came in touch with to be better. We need more coaches like Tom Moore in this old world. As a coach, entering my 26 year of leading young men, this is a breathe of fresh air that our sacrifice and investment into these players and coaches will yield a great return for everyone involved. Thank you for taking the time and putting together this particular part of college and NFL history to be remembered years from now. Would love to meet you one day to say Thank You in person! God Bless you and your family Coach Moore.

EXCELLENT book

Extremely well written. The author understood Tom was the star of the show. Sometimes writers forget that. Now, as for the narrator, oh lord. Has dude ever watched a football game? Mispronounced half the names of players and the Bucs' General Manager Jason Licht. Pronounced Light !!!
