Publisher's summary

Joining us in the Audible Studios to discuss her latest memoir, Another Planet: A Teenager in Suburbia, is singer Tracey Thorn.

One half of duo Everything but the Girl as well as a solo artist, Tracey Thorn is a singer, a writer, a mother, a wife, a feminist, and so much more. In Another Planet: A Teenager in Suburbia, we are given an insight into life before music...and when the music begins to arrive.

In this interview, Tracey spoke to us about the intrigue of her 'hilariously dull' teenage diary entries, buying her first guitar, and tells us the lyrics of an early song she wrote - an ode to music journalist Julie Burchill.

Very Enjoyable Interview

This is a very enjoyable interview with Tracey Thorn, as she talks about her newest book "Another Planet", but also about writing in general, how she came to write this book about her childhood, how her upbringing compares to her relationship with her own children, and the similarities and differences between writing a book and writing music. Having been a long-time fan of her music, both her solo work and her work with her husband Ben Watt in Everything But the Girl, I'm pleased that reading her writing and hearing her narrate her books is just as enjoyable to me as her music has been for me. I don't think every author is the best narrator for their books, but I think that Tracey really is the best narrator for the books she has written (and I think the same about her husband Ben). Even if you are not familiar with their music, I highly recommend their books, and especially, their audiobooks.
