Publisher's summary

Whoever said blood was thicker than water never stood in a pool of it.

Retiring from stealing priceless treasures seemed like a surefire way for Rook Stevens to stay on the right side of the law. The only cop in his life should have been his probably-boyfriend, Los Angeles Detective Dante Montoya, but that's not how life - his life - is turning out. Instead, Rook ends up not only standing in a puddle of his cousin Harold's blood but also being accused of Harold's murder...and sleeping with Harold's wife.

For Dante, loving the former thief means his once-normal life is now a sea of chaos, especially since Rook seems incapable of staying out of trouble - or keeping trouble from following him home. When Rook is tagged as a murder suspect by a narrow-focused West LA detective, Dante steps in to pull his lover out of the quagmire Rook's landed in.

When the complicated investigation twists around on them, the dead begin to stack up, forcing the lovers to work together. Time isn't on their side, and if they don't find the killer before another murder, Dante will be visiting Rook in his prison cell - or at his grave.

Round 2

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads (Audiobook Review).

Oh man. I did not expect where this story went. I absolutely fell in love with Rook's crabby grandfather. The way both men were willing to make sacrifices for each other made me swoon. Two very strong men with very stubborn spirits found their perfect matches and it's so much fun to follow along.

Learning more about Rook's life was interesting (and quite sad at times). I love that he didn't let his grandfather's attitude push him away because they were quite similar as we learn the more we got to see them interact.

Dante was his own kind of awesome in this story. He gets the proof he's been wanting for so long only for it to not really matter. The way he handles Rook's past is admirable considering what it had put both of them through.

Another home run by Greg Tremblay but that's exactly what I've come to expect from the books he narrates.

Excellent listen

I tore through this audio. It's a good mystery and an excellent production. I love how the narrator does voices that seem like real people but different enough that I don't get lost as characters talk. So friggin awesome!

More Rhys Magic!

I'm pretty much convinced everything Rhys Ford writes is gold, who else could make the traffic in LA sound like poetry. This was another wonderful listen and the perfect continuation of the first of the series. I adore both Rook and Dante and it was so great to get a better look at the supporting characters as well. Great story as always!

Great story. Great narration.

Listening to audio books written by Rhys Ford reinforces just how beautifully Ford paints pictures with words. The characters are wonderfully fleshed, and the plot of this book has just enough twists to keep me guessing.

Soo Good!!

I only recently started listening to Rhys Ford books and I have to say this series is my favorite. She’s so talented.
My heart broke in the middle when Rook is confronted with something that reminds him of the trauma in his life. And can I just squeal, holy moly that ending. Def a set up for more to come.
The narration is great. Greg Tremblay is wonderful. He really brought the characters to life.

Fabulous balance of mystery and romance

Another thoroughly entertaining, sexy story featuring the cop and the (ex)cat burglar. Rook can't stay out of trouble, and Dante can't do other than help him out of it... With lots of relationship and character development, plenty of snark and humour, great secondary characters (gotta love Manny, Hank and Archie) and a tender, sensual central romance, Tramps and Thieves is a delight. Greg Trembay's outstanding narration makes it even better; he captures Rook's prickly vulnerability, and his portrayal of Dante is just perfect.

Highly recommended.
