Although the five books in this series are complementary and help the listener to have a more complete view of the theme, each book is complete in its own right and should be enjoyed for the profit of it. Although the books are rooted in the Word of God, they are written not merely to help listeners to know God’s point of view about the matters discussed but also to lead the believer beyond theoretical understanding into spiritual experience; for sanctification is, ultimately, not merely a doctrine but an experience.

Most of the world is lazy. Too many believers are idle. Few attain their God-given potential. The kingdom suffers because of the too many spectators who are said to be soldiers in the army of the Lord. The loss to God, to the kingdom of God, and to the lazy person that is caused by the sin of laziness is beyond measure. Must things continue that way? I do not think so. Laziness is a deadly sin. The one who commits this sin can be delivered. That is what this book is about. May the Lord bless you as you listen to it! Amen.

Discipleship is a very costly business, and in moments of severe trials, one may be tempted to ask, “Why go into all this trouble of suffering with Christ? Why not give up? This book was born out of prayer. The lord called a few of us aside to pray. Each night, we wrestled in prayer between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. This went on for many weeks. We came to find ourselves blessed, challenged, and purified. We came to see the lord in a new way and to understand the purpose of our being in a totally new light. This book was also born out of an experience - an experience of obedience.

The Lord meant that the church as his body, and the believer as a member of his body, would manifest spiritual power in character and service. The church is, generally speaking, powerless. The lives of many believers are a tragic contradiction of the gospel they talk about. In the face of diseases, demons, and the like, many believers stand totally powerless.

Many believers have backslid. Some have turned away completely while others have turned away only in small degrees. Many will honestly say, "I have lost that love which I first had for the Lord". Many are prepared to say that, but they are not willing to take radical steps to put things right. They see the need to repent; they desire to repent, but they do not repent, for they do not pay the price of repentance.

In the early Church, only disciples were known. Those who belonged to the Lord Jesus were called “Disciples”. Who is a disciple? The Lord Jesus intended that everyone who is led to him, and who therefore knows him personally and is dynamically related to him, should enroll in the school of a Disciple Maker who will make him into a Disciple, which means somebody committed not only to be like Christ, but also to bring others to be like Christ.
