Not that it’s easy being in the one field she should most likely avoid. Gabby Mulder was loving her winter in Aspen, Colorado, until a dangerous event with a ghost nearly killed her. Not that she was a believer but, given the circumstances, she had to be open to such a possibility. When one of her roommates is brutally murdered in their shared apartment, rumors circulate of a serial killer returning, which just adds to Gabby’s pain. Confused and grieving, Gabby is forced to move to a new residence, while the police investigate the death, the crime scene at the apartment, and her.

Cupid apparently has a soft spot for SEALs and he's lined his sights upon Devlin next. He's not looking for romance, but he finds the right woman in the worst possible place. As part of a military unit helping train Afghan soldiers, Devlin is learning how to use the latest combat drones. After a murder is committed on the base, suspicion falls on the drone's drop-dead-gorgeous designer. Devlin can't stop himself from running to her rescue. Following their return Stateside, another employee in the same company turns up dead. Once again, all evidence points to the designer.

Detective Kate Morgan arrives at a broken-down house, supposedly the site of a suspicious death, only to receive a screaming warning from Simon not to enter the building. Turns out, she had been given the wrong address but does find a dead body at the corrected address. As Kate sorts out whether she has a Black Widow on her most recent case, Simon tries to help a homeless man, who ends up in the morgue—now one of Kate’s newest files because that poor man’s body had been found in the broken-down house. That’s nothing compared to what else she finds on the premises.

Gage hadn’t told the rest of his team, but he’d planned to meet up with Lorelei after their team disbanded. A little one-on-one time was needed to see if all the sparks they’d felt over the last few years were the real thing. He’d deliberately avoided getting involved with anyone he worked with, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Until all the team is decimated.…
