Trust power love are fundamentals of negotiation

Power must be balanced with love or you are not going to have effectiveness of Negotiation. trust is fundamental to all human issues.

My wife cried with joy when I used a tactic..

I implemented one of the negotiation strategies with my wife one day when she had an issue with my mother. This tends to be a touchy subject in most marriages. I executed Dr. Freeman's advice to a T. We had the discussion (which would have usually lead to an argument with me defending my mother's position) in the morning and went to work. Upon arriving home, she brought be aside and talked to me for 45 minutes with tears in her eyes about how much she appreciated my approach and that I made her feel like the situation had gone away. That said, even if you are not in business, this book is sure to help you in your every day life.

Amazing ideas

This is amazing must have book . It changed my way of thinking and dealing with others. Helping me to resolve a big issues arises in my life. Such as using BATNA in the salary negotiations.

Very insightful

Negotiation is an ART. It aligns with counseling and one must be able to ask insightful questions on the spur of the moment to be successful and fully understand what it is that the person you are negotiating with, wants and what his/her boundaries are. The same is true for yourself. It is the clarity that you have in these situations that will help you succeed in negotiation or walk away from the negotiating table.

Provides concrete examples

The chronological order of the book made it easy to understand and each chapter has a "Key takeaway" summarizing the most important concepts covered. Further, the book provides concrete examples and case studies to show how the concepts are applied in practice and is written in a style which provides deep insights through plain language.

Not the slick "how to cheat" type of info. Good solid usable skills for a lifetime of low stress "getting along well" instead.

Very informative, intelligent and enjoyable.

This book is very smartly written. There are enough stories to help emphasize the content and the subject is covered thoroughly. Informative and applicable to so many things in business and in life. I was happy I chose it. As a result, I would read more books by these authors, on this topic, written by more Harvard educators.

Very good practical advise!

A well explained book. Very good practical advise and approach to negotiations. The book also covers legal aspects of contract negotiation. I was also fortunate to take the course that the book is based on from the author.
