The Scarecrow of Oz is the ninth Oz book. In this story, Trot, a young girl from California, and her peg-legged sailor friend, Cap'n Bill, find themselves on a perilous voyage when a whirlpool leaves them stranded in an underwater cave. Story
"Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz" is the fourth book (among many!) set in the Land of Oz by author L. Frank Baum, published in 1908. Written shortly after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and around the time Baum moved to California, the book starts with an earthquake in California. Dorothy and others - such as Eureka (her cat), Zeb (her cousin) - are riding a buggy being pulled by a cab-horse named Jim, when suddenly they are swallowed up by cracks in the earth, and fall into an underground cavern, where they begin their adventures, including meeting a race of people made entirely out of vegetables... this will be the least strange part of this wonderful story!

Valahol messze, a zölden tündöklő Smaragdvárosban él és uralkodik Oz, a nagy varázsló. Dorka is tőle szeretne tanácsot kérni, hogyan juthatna vissza Kansasba Totó kiskutyájával együtt. Útja során három jó barátra is szert tesz: a bölcsességre vágyó, egyébként éles eszű Madárijesztőre, a magát gyávának valló, bátorságát mégis jó pár alkalommal bizonyító Gyáva Oroszlánra és a "szív nélküli" Bádog Favágóra, akinek bádogtestében érdekes módon mégis érző szív dobog.

Perhaps more than any other Oz book, Baum’s personal circumstances and those of the current events of World War I make their way into the story. Since Princess Ozma had decreed that magic was forbidden to be practice by anyone except Glinda the Good Witch, Oz has been lacking in magical adventures and Kiki quickly changes that. Kiki uses the magic word, "pyrzqxgl", to transform himself and others into animals, including an exiled Nome, Ruggedo. Cuando Dorothy y su perrito Toto se vieron atrapados en su casa por un torbellino que llegó de repente, nunca pensaron que los vientos les llevarían a una tierra tan extraña y lejana a su hogar en Kansas. In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, in the tradition of Orwell’s classic “Politics and the English Language,” but found himself grappling with deeper questions about how our stories—our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking—expose and distort our realities. In the first of the book’s three intertwining essays, Coates, on his first trip to Africa, finds himself in two places at once: in Dakar, a modern city in Senegal, and in a mythic kingdom in his mind.
