Women with ADHD

I had read on the topic of ADHD before but I had not come across information on this topic centered on women. The information shared here brings a new perspective. It offer guidance as to how to go about you day while making better sense in order to accomplish each in a methodical manner. The guidance offered mention aspect such as: taking an internal look at yourself, identifying behavior patterns, understanding you limits, and much more. I recommend this book to women seeking to make better sense of ADHS as part of their lives.

Detailed and effective

This was a very insightful audiobook. I appreciated that the nuances of arriving at a diagnosis are often different in women, and the list of reasons why that is so. The advice is practical and well-sourced. You lose nothing by trying DBT, so I suggest you give this book a go, to try to achieve some progress, rather than the same info you might have encountered with CBT.

My Daughter Finally Feels Understood

As someone who’s dealt with his daughter having ADHD her whole life, I’ve often felt like I was just stumbling through the chaos trying to help her. We listen to books all the time on drives and this book completely resonated with me and her. The exercises on emotional regulation were surprisingly doable—She tried one after a meltdown last week, and it helped her calm down way faster than usual.

Plus, the section on celebrating neurodiversity reminded me to stop being so hard on her and for her to stop being so hard on herself.

For the first time, we feel like we have tools that actually work!

I’ve often felt misunderstood

As a woman with ADHD, I’ve often felt misunderstood and overwhelmed, but this book offers a refreshing perspective.

The DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) approach is incredible. The workbook provides simple exercises that helped me develop emotional regulation skills, improve my focus, and better manage daily challenges. What I love most is how the book is designed specifically for women—it recognizes the unique ways ADHD impacts us and offers strategies tailored to our needs.

The focus on celebrating neurodiversity and building emotional intelligence is what truly sets this book apart. Instead of framing ADHD as a deficit, the author encourages readers to see their differences as strengths. This positive and compassionate tone was incredibly uplifting and motivated me to approach my challenges with self-compassion and confidence.

The exercises and strategies are practical and easy to follow, even for someone like me who struggles with executive functioning. Whether it’s breaking down tasks, managing emotions, or improving communication, every section feels relevant and achievable. Since applying what I've learned, I’ve already noticed a positive shift in my mindset and daily routines.
